Lili'uokalani wall hanging, done in 'KC style'

Well,
KC never made it to my house, not enough followers
in my neck of the woods,
but I made it to her class in San Jose anyway.
It was so much fun to experience one of her classes.
She gently led us to play in her style,
while being true to our own intuition.
Quite a delicate dance to lead and really freeing and fun!
I loved letting go of my perfect lines
and studied placements.
That's not to say I won't continue to create in
that way again, but I am excited
to combine my new found freedom with
my more buttoned up style.
Which just reminded me of the juxtaposition of
the old Kingdom of Hawai'i meets the Victorian Era
that I reflect in my Ali'i Series work.
I love when that happens...

Mana'o link, try again!

KC's mana'o at http://kcwillis.blogspot.com/ )

A special lady teaching art in my hale!

I am so happy and honored my friend KC Willis
is coming from Colorado, to my house, to teach her
fabulous Collage Camp "Basics  Training" one day class
on Thursday, May 19th, from 9:30-5:00.
This is also her sweet aloha teaching trip and the last time for us to be part of her process.
Read her mana'o here.

She was/is part of my 'ah-ha I can do it!' moment
(and that chicken skin moment when you know you've met a kindred spirit)
that lead to the birth, and is helping with the raising of Noho Nani Mai.

Her work is beautiful, original, meaningful, and spontaneous!
If it looks like fun to you, hele on out to Pinole and play with us!
